Cootamundra Show 2026 – The Best One Ever!

We visited the Cootamundra Show on Saturday 17 October 2026. See what we enjoyed, from livestock and rides to food stalls, entertainment and family fun. It was a great day out.

Our Day At The Cootamundra Show 2026

We visited the Cootamundra Show on Saturday 17 October 2026, and it turned out to be a great day out. We have been going to the show for the past seven years, and this year felt like the best one yet. I went along with Amanda, Mum and Dad, and we all found plenty to enjoy across the showgrounds. The annual show brings together agricultural displays, family entertainment and country hospitality, making it a highlight of the local events calendar.

Getting Up Close To The Cows

Amanda’s favourite part of the day was easy to pick: the cows. She loves getting up close to them and the livestock areas gave her plenty of chances to do just that. Watching the cattle being prepared, presented and judged is always one of the most enjoyable parts of a country show.

There is something special about seeing the care that goes into presenting livestock. From the animals themselves to the handlers and exhibitors, it is clear that a lot of time and effort goes into show day. Amanda was happy spending time around the cattle, and it was nice to see her enjoying one of the most traditional parts of the Cootamundra Show.

Tractors, Engines And Working Dogs

My personal highlight was the tractor and small engine display. I always enjoy seeing old machinery, engines and farm equipment, and this year’s display did not disappoint. It was a good reminder of how much has changed in farming over the years, while also showing how well some older machines have been looked after.

The working dogs were another favourite. They are always impressive to watch, and it is easy to appreciate the skill involved in handling stock with a well-trained dog. For anyone with an interest in rural life, farming or working animals, these displays are a real highlight of the show.

Family Fun Around The Showgrounds At The Cootamundra Show 2026

Beyond the livestock and machinery, there was plenty happening around the showgrounds. The familiar mix of rides, food stalls, entertainment and community displays gave the day a lively atmosphere. We enjoyed wandering between the different areas, checking out the stalls and taking in everything the show had to offer.

The Cootamundra Show is a family-friendly event, and that was obvious throughout the day. There were people of all ages enjoying the displays, catching up with others and making the most of the spring weather. It felt relaxed, welcoming and very much a community event.

Why We Keep Coming Back To The At The Cootamundra Show

The number one reason is we are locals! We have attended the Cootamundra Show every year for the past seven years (except for maybe one we missed during covid?) and it has become something we look forward to. Part of the appeal is the variety: there is always something different to see whether it is the animals, the displays, the entertainment or simply the atmosphere.

This year stood out for us because we each found something we really enjoyed. Amanda had her cows, I had the tractors, engines and working dogs and Mum and Dad enjoyed the overall day out. That balance is what makes a good country show work so well.

A Great Local Day Out

If you are looking for a family-friendly day out in the Riverina, the Cootamundra Show is well worth a visit. It combines agriculture, entertainment, food and community spirit in a way that larger events often struggle to match.

We left the showgrounds tired but happy, already talking about what we might see next year. Based on our visit on Saturday 17 October 2026, the Cootamundra Show continues to be one of the best local events in the region, and we will definitely be back again.
